German Accusative Case Explained

The German accusative case is used to indicate the direct object of a sentence. In simple terms, it answers the question "whom?" or "what?". Let's take an example: "Ich sehe einen Hund." (I see a dog.) In this sentence, "einen Hund" is in the accusative case because it is the direct object of the verb "sehen" (to see). Another example is "Sie haben das Buch gekauft." (They bought the book.) Here, "das Buch" is in the accusative case as it answers the question "what did they buy?". Beginners can identify the accusative case by looking for an article or pronoun that changes in the sentence.
